Hans Reiser convicted: Was he too intelligent?

I just read the article "Hans Reiser Guilty of First Degree Murder" found on wired and I think this could be a false verdict.verurteilt

I've some friends who are said to be "strange" by "normal" people. Some of them are told by doctors that they have some illness.

I don'- think they are ill, just seeing the world with different eyes. I can understand those people, see their motivation and their way of thinking.

And currently I think the same happened with Hans Reiser. Nerds are different, are strange, thinking in a quite different way.

Being paranoid is not seldom, because nerds see a wider context and the possibility of misusing powers.

So to make it short: I doubt that Hans is guilty and that verdict seems to be like a very bad joke to me.

With real consequences for him. I really hope somebody will free him.

My personal opinion is that he may have had some ideas somebody dislikes and thus wants him to vanish. Whether they are technical and may have been related to his filesystem or political or something else, I am not sure.

But  OAKLAND court shows quite impressive how far their evolution is:

  • If you mistrust somebody and inform yourself about the untrusted party, you are guilty.
  • If you behave in a way people do not understand, you are guilty.
  • If you are too intelligent, you are guilty.

So much said, I am not yet sure how to react on that case to demonstrate that this verdict is nonsense and to make them revoke it.
